Wedding Supplier Spotlight | Beau Events Chair Covers

For this post – another in my occasional series wedding supplier spotlights – I am pleased to write about Beau Events located just outside of Reading. Beau Events is a specialist chair cover and table dressing company that’s been established for a few years now and does a superb job of transforming your wedding reception. I’ve seen many wedding reception table setups in my time and it’s really quite striking the difference that well fitted chair covers can make, particularly if they are accompanied by coordinating sashes, table dressing and other decorative touches. Visually, these are of course very influential when you first enter the wedding meal room and the right choices can literally take people’s breath away when they walk in.

Just recently I visited their office in Swallowfield to meet with Fiona and Mark who run the company and talk about some of their recent work and what they are doing this year. Amongst other things I was surprised to learn there are about 8 different ways to tie a bow :) and that you can choose from over 200 stock colours of fabric.

Mark and Fi have an almost obsessive attention to detail. I was interested to see how they cut and hem the fabric in their workshop to ensure everything is lined up correctly and how the fabrics are assembled to sit correctly on the furniture at the wedding reception. On the wedding day, the Beau Events team will swing into action with military precision and transport your finished covers and accessories to avoid creasing and crumpling. Everything is installed in good time for the wedding meal (definitely no last minute panics) and throughout the whole process they liaise with you to make sure you are happy with your choices and the way everything is set up.

A ludicrous amount of colours are available off the shelf and failing that, Beau Events will custom manufacture your chair covers and sashes for you.

Wedding Photography Website | New Year – New Look

Not so much a new look for my wedding photography website but just a little spruce up. I decided on a simpler, cleaner look for the home page. It’s scary to think I have had a wedding photography website for over ten years now. Needless to say the Mark 1 website was very basic – maybe 8 or 10 wedding photos, a couple of paragraphs of text and some contact information. To say things have come along a bit since then is an understatement. Maintaining a web presence for my wedding photography business can be time consuming but it’s definitely worthwhile.

The web is wonderful not least of all because you can show your wedding pictures to people across the country or the other side of the world. Each year I shoot a number of weddings for brides and grooms based overseas and it is wonderful that they can see hundreds of wedding pictures, albums and photographs of their wedding venue. Quite often we use video skype or iChat to ‘meet’ before the wedding, discuss the timings on the big day and to organise everything.

Wedding Dresses

I was asked by Julia of Village Brides, based not far from me in Spencers Wood, south of Reading to photograph around 100 wedding dresses. Today we shot around 30 beautiful wedding dresses with the rest being schedule for next week. As you might imagine, the dresses themselves are quite heavy and large to transport so I took my studio equipment to the Village Brides showroom and set everything up there. I was amazed by the variety of dresses and the many different styles. The pictures are for Julia’s publicity for a major bridal trade show and exhibition in September.

Back in the saddle

I am pleased to say I am finally back home after an unscheduled extra week away, tons of hassle and some, uh, interesting travel stories. I am so happy to get home in time to shoot Victoria and Richard’s wedding tomorrow and Katie and Graham’s bid day on Saturday. Had I missed the weddings it would have been the first time in sixteen years that would have happened. One benefit of hiring a professional photographer like myself is that we have a network of fellow professionals to call on. I had already lined up replacements to shoot the weddings this weekend but thankfully that wasn’t needed.

It’s great to be back, a post on my holiday and some pictures (of course) coming soon.

The Café

I was early for a commercial shoot in Wokingham today so I headed for the shops for a bottle of water. I saw the old man in the window of the café lost in thought gazing down the street. Ten minutes later on the way back he still hadn’t touched his coffee.

OK, so I am no video expert and more wooden than Pinocchio in front of the camera but I thought it would be fun to shoot some video interviews with my favourite wedding suppliers.
