Michelle and Tom’s Buxted Park Hotel Wedding

blank Michelle and Toms Buxted Park Hotel Weddingbuxted park wedding photography Michelle and Toms Buxted Park Hotel Wedding

I’ve had a brilliant year this year, shot some lovely weddings in great locations. Maybe it’s just luck but all my brides and grooms have been wonderful, none more so Tom and Michelle whose wedding today at Buxton Park Hotel in Sussex was great fun to photograph. I’d not photographed at Buxton Park before and enjoyed it immensely as it was one of those wedding venues that has plenty of room inside and out for the wedding guests to mingle and enjoy the afternoon. The bridal suite where Michelle and her sister Nicola got ready was huge – with great big bathroom, ideal for shooting pictures.

The complete gallery goes up when Tom and Michelle get back from their 4 week honeymoon. If you would like an email when the gallery goes live please click here.

In the meantime here’s a few images that  I liked.

One nice touch with the wedding was the petals scattered over the flagstones of the ceremony room. Of course someone decided tbey needed tidying up, And handing out to the guests :)

Pennyhill Park Wedding – Sarah and Chris

A beautiful Saturday morning and I am at Pennyhill Park Hotel for the wedding of Chris and Sarah. Pennyhill Park Hotel is one of my favourite wedding venues – I first shot there in 2001 and have had the pleasure of recording many happy days there since. Chris and Sarah were great to work with, we met for some engagement pictures a few weeks ago and I knew then the wedding was going to be great fun to shoot. I’d been booked to shoot the evening celebrations, the first dance and also the hyde end studios photobooth so we were all set for a terrific day.

On Monday morning after the wedding, Chris texted me “The entire day was as we dreamt it would be…”

You can’t ask for more than that, can you?

Sarah and Chris are sunning themselves in the Far East so here’s a few images to tide you over until the complete gallery is uploaded. If you’d like to know when that is, click here and I’ll send you an email.

A couple of detail shots from the venue.

Engagement Photography- Keeley & Frankie

These two crazy kids are getting married next month! We met today to shoot some pre-wedding pictures. The plan was to shoot at their wedding venue which is the lovely Wasing Park in Aldermaston but sadly the weather was against us. Still, we got some nice pictures inside and I am looking forward to the big day! Here’s a couple of images from the pre-wedding session that caught my eye.

Taplow House Hotel Wedding – Jo and Jamie

Jo and Jamie got married today, the wedding was at St. James-The-Less in Stubbings and the reception was at the other side of Maidenhead at the Taplow House Hotel. They couldn’t have wished for better weather, beautiful in the morning and a little bit of cloud in the afternoon which kept the heat down nicely.  It’s been quite a few years since I was last at Taplow House Hotel for a wedding but it hasn’t changed that much. It was built in 1598 and has been a hotel since 1958 so probably has seen a few brides through it’s doors in that time.

Jo and Jamie were great to work with, pretty relaxed (although I think Jamie definitely felt more relaxed after the ceremony than before :)

J and J are on honeymoon in the Seychelles at the moment so the complete gallery will be uploaded when they return. In the meantime here’s a few pictures from the deay. If you would like to know when all the wedding pictures will be available online, clickez-vous ici.

A couple of images from home. Jo patiently waits while her mum laces up the dress.

And now my very own ‘Life On Mars’ moment. For me, this is what wedding photography is all about. The image below is of Jo’s parents wedding almost exactly 35 years ago at  the same church. Check out those lapels! We recreated (for the most part) the same group at Jo and Jamie’s wedding. No doubt everyone is thinking as we all do ‘how time flies’.

I always think that your wedding photographs are for 30 or 30 years time, not for the months after the wedding when you look and feel much the same. Thanks to Jo’s parents for lending me the above photo.

Engagement Photography – Michelle and Lewis

I met with Michelle and Lewis today for a pre-wedding session at Aldermaston Manor. We spent some time shooting relaxed pictures in and around the venue. They are getting married there in the summer and it was a good chance to catch up and chat about the wedding. Here’s a few of my favourite photographs from the shoot.

Family Portrait – Stephen, Lisa and the boys

It was lovely to see Lisa and Stephen back today in the studio with their two boys. I photographed their wedding 9 years ago at Highfield Park near Heckfield. I often think of the wedding album as your first family heirloom and I think it’s great to see my brides and grooms back with their growing families to shoot  some pictures to add to their collection of memories. Does that sound cheesy? I think images like these are irreplaceable when the children are grown up and left home. Here’s a few favourites from the session.

Shirley & Armin’s Dulwich Picture Gallery Wedding

Armin and Shirley got married today at Dulwich Picture Gallery in south London. Shirley is from Colombia and Armin’s family hails from Iran and with the unusual setting they had chosen for the nuptials it was a great wedding, very interesting to photograph. It also helps of course that everyone was very friendly and laid back. The Dulwich Picture Gallery is an unusual place for a wedding reception, take a look below!

Here’s some favourite images of the day. I started off photographing at Shirley and Armin’s house not far from the reception.

Claire and Michael’s Cain Manor Wedding – A little cine film of the day

A couple of months ago I posted that I had been out on a wedding to help my friend Rob shoot the day. I took the opportunity to fulfill an ambition to shoot a little Super 8 cine film of the wedding as well. I have always loved the look of film footage, so different from today’s HD video and I always thought it looked great for weddings where traditionally the film is treasured for many decades after the event. Shooting Super 8 is notoriously err…unreliable. The cameras you can get nowadays are typically 30-40 years old. The focussing is pretty much guesswork and you get little bits of flare and debris in the camera shows up in the footage. It’s all part of the charm of course and adds to the ‘look’ of the film. I picked up a Canon 514 cine camera from Ebay a while ago now and shot a test roll to make sure everything was working OK. Kodak still make cine film but about the only place in Europe you can get it processed is a lab in Berlin. The film took a whopping two months to get back to me but it’s kind of nice compared to the instant gratification of digital video (and stills come to that). And no, I have no plans to shoot video – I am sticking to stills. By the way, if you like the idea of a cine film of your wedding, check out Andy’s work over at cine8.co.uk Andy was kind enough to help me get prepared for this little project with lots of advice. It was fun to make and I feel it always helps, creatively speaking, to change gears once in a while and shoot something different.

Hope you enjoy it.
